In my perspective, the first picture seems to show a bursted blood vessel with blood spilling into the surrounding area. I think this thought is supported with the fact that it seems to be connected to an area with several visible blood vessels. After researching more into possible diagnoses that fit the description, I’ve come across vitreous hemorrhages which cause vision loss when blood leaks into the vitreous region and blocks light. The hemorrhage is also supposedly painless and more common with older patients so I believe there’s a good chance this may be the issue.
I believe the cause may be trauma to the eye, or possibly a result of old age due to the altering of the eye structure as a consequence of aging (or maybe both if the vessels get weaker with age so a less magnitude of trauma is necessary to pop the vessel. Not too sure though.).
