Here is a sample dental radiograph (xray) for you guys to look at. I labeled the radiograph. See if you guys can identify them... I will look out for some interesting xrays and post them later.
Great guesses and answers!!! Remember guys... this is a radiograph, which is meant to show the hard tissues (bones and teeth), not soft tissues such as gums. Gums and lips do show up but very faint. Sorry about the confusion on some of the arrows and landmarks.
A = existing amalgam filling (xrays cannot pass through it so it shows as white (radiopaque)
B = pulp chamber (nerve)
C = cavity between the teeth (interproximal carious lesion, sepacifically distal aspect of tooth #4). Cavities weaken the enamel and dentin layers so it becomes less dense, so when radiographs are taken, it showes up darker. So make sure you guys floss!!!
D = cortical bone surrounding the root
E and F are different layers of the teeth, enamal and dentin.
